A special Victorian emerald and enamel ring in high carat gold. The centre stone is a half carat natural emerald in a lovely grassy green colour, flecked with natural internal and surface reaching inclusions. Held securely in a buttercup style setting that perfectly accented the square profile of the emerald whilst allowing light to enter and reflect through the stone from every angle.
This is a ring that just keeps giving with details at every angle. From the carefully engraved collet to the remains of black enamel working its way down the shoulders. The ring is over 150 years old and has some blemishes from its life; under a loupe we can see the emerald has surface wear to its facets and a chip to one corner from a surface reaching inclusion, whilst to the back of the ring we see evidence of a historic re-size. However, we love to see the stories this ring holds and it remains an incredibly special piece.
